On the Eve of Direction

Xorse Network News

March 15th, 2010 | Filed Under: Design, Humor, Life

Another video! And further proof that we need a real video camera.

It’s an okay stab at creating network news style graphics. Only having a day and still not knowing crap about After Effects didn’t help. But, I know how I’ll handle the task next time I’m called forth to complete it.

Also, the crappy compression quality of this video will serve as a reminder to take some time, and figure out appropriate output settings for Adobe Media Encoder.

Long live the Xorse.

Hosting Change

August 26th, 2009 | Filed Under: Life, Technology

The site disappeared the past few days, this is due to moving everything over to a newer, shinier, hopefully better toaster. Actually the site hasn’t been down at all, but the information I was constantly given the wrong information to point the domain name to the new host.

Now that that’s out of the way, I plan to start working on tweaking a few things and adding some new content/features.

Ah! The Resolutions.

January 4th, 2008 | Filed Under: Humor, Life

It’s the beginning of a fresh year, so suck in that fresh 2008 oxygen. Suck it in hard, suck it in fast, because you won’t have long before this set of 366 days turns the tables on you. Like every other year, it’s going to drag the life force from your body, little by little until you rot and wilt. That’s why I enjoy distracting myself with New Year’s Resolutions!

Less wilting—more resolutioning

Arion’s New Year’s Resolutions for 2008

  1. Get a real toothbrush:
End this fruitless Brillo pad charade.
  2. Continue not to fly on airplanes for fear that I’m on the No Fly List:
I need to travel, and since high speed panda isn’t an option, I want to go by air. Blimps or hot air balloons are still available to me, as far as I know.
  3. Paint the piece that Josh Hagen wants:
The one made up of a bunch of small paintings predominately featuring boobs and a turtle. I need to get my hand back up and get myself back into art. Also, back into turtles.
  4. 4) Learn to play the ocarina that I purchased:
The novelty of the thing has faded as well as my attention to it. I will never be able to woo a sufficient number of women without some sort of ocarina related skill.
  5. Buy a fancier ocarina to renew the novelty of it all.
  6. Continue to look at the homes on the market:
Pray that the federal government doesn’t offer too good of a bail-out package. After all, I like my homes the same way I like my Ramen Noodles: cheap, minimal amounts of lead, and served with delicious bacon. I know, some will worry for my health, but I love my bacon… all meaty and fatty and served with eggs. El Drool!
  7. Even if I don’t get to ride it, I will at least see a breathing unicorn:
I will also ride the unicorn. We’ll ride over the rainbow forests to Cupcakesville—a land of both cups and cakes—to visit Dr. David the Gnome. What’s that David? Tea time! Why yes, I would love a cup of Blackberry and Spice!

    HA!

That ‘corn will never see me coming!

  8. 7) Quit more things:
My life is way busy! I need to knock a few projects off or my platter. And by that, I don’t mean “finish them,” I mean “quit them.” It’s a well known fact that quitting is not only the quickest way out of something, but also the most rewarding way. You really get to stick it to “The Man” and show them who’s the boss. I’m gonna quit all kinds of cool stuff this year! Painting… unicorn hunting… writin’

Quite the Non-Dihydroxyphenylalanine

October 14th, 2006 | Filed Under: Life, Technology

Just when I thought all the computer issues were done and over with, they come back and strike 3 times as hard. This time, my personal tower down because of a power supply failure. But, there was a bonus. I’ve been fighting with the content management systems on the site, just to make them display information correctly. At one point, during a move to a new server, we almost lost a lot of data.

Well I continue to try and clear that stuff up, you can take a gander at these new photos. They’re just a small glimpse at what will be coming to Northern NY cable television this November.

More Bad News…

August 20th, 2006 | Filed Under: Life

Sorry about the lack of updates, but there was –well– a bit of a car crash. No one got hurt or anything, I just thought you would like to know. The red tape with these things keeps people rather involved.

On a side note, when a person is in a car crash, it really is best if they file with the DMV within 10 days. People who do not may be subject to dire consequences.

Anyway, I myself have also been quite busy crafting a commercial for Stream NY and getting ready for Pirate Days in Alexandria Bay… We’ll have an update on those later on in the show.

Good News

July 22nd, 2006 | Filed Under: Life, Technology

So, I’ve finally come bearing good news. My main computer and two others are now working again. This means that there should be some more regular posting again. Expect the humor to be vast.

To get my computer working again required buying a number of new parts and gut the system completely. Although the exterior case is the same, the interior is mostly new. There is a new motherboard (DFI LAN Party nF4 Ultra), processor (Athlon 64 3800+ Venice), video card (XFX Geforce 7950GX2), power supply (600W), and fans (Thermaltake). As one may guess, the system is running much better now, but I am beginning to think it’s just about time to reinstall the OS.

Even more good news! I’ve gone through and uploaded photos of our group from Roaring 20′s Weekend in Alexandria Bay. Have some summer time fun by going to the Gallery link above.

After about two weeks, I figured I should say something. We’ve had four computers kick the bucket for miscellaneous reasons, all within two days. As you can guess, this has caused things to slow a bit.

Hopefully we will have hard drives, video cards, and the like very soon. Until then, enjoy this Star Wars Transformers Deluxe Millennium Falcon.

I’ll Be Back

October 15th, 2005 | Filed Under: Life

We recently received the blessing of a Kohl’s department store. A friend and I visited and scoped out this establishment. I won’t go into the details of what these stores possess. I will, however, speak about their shopping carts.

Upon first sight, we both came to the consensus that we disliked these mesh carts greatly, and that they were from a time far beyond our own. Our travels through the shop became a journey of discovery. We found that these “Future Carts” were not only futuristic, but predecessors to a variety of cart that would—in the future—wage an epic struggle against mankind.

It was clear to us at this point—purely enviable—that we were in danger. Someone or something was bound to travel backwards in time to the current day. What would this beings sole intent be? Assassinate the Future Carts before they have an opportunity to obliterate man. This action would obviously bring other beings from the future to protect the Future Carts. Perhaps the most ultramodern of carts would arrive. At that point anyone around Kohl’s and these carts would surely become a causality.

Needless to say, we departed with haste.

Misbehaving

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit that I should have been working on the code for the pages tonight. But instead I was here, doing this.
